Emulseo High Performance Surfactants for Microfluidics Droplet Generation Available Online
Emulseo, a Southwest France based company, was founded in 2018 and was incubated from a laboratory research project from the Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal. It develops high performance surfactants for microfluidic technologies as well as formulation tools to conduct efficient and reliable droplet microfluidic experiments. As a partner of Emulseo, we has been authorized to distribute their full line of products for a variety of applications, such as Digital droplet PCR, Single-cell analysis, Controlled manipulation, analysis and sorting of cells, Synthetic biology, Control of chemical and biological reactions. The main products for surface treatments include:
1. Surfactant FluoSurf
FluoSurf TM is a biocompatible fluorinated surfactant specifically designed and optimized for production of monodisperse aqueous solution-in-oil droplets. It ensures long-term droplet stability, even in extreme conditions. Quality controls have been specifically developed to verify purity and its performance. Rigorous chemical and microfluidic assays are performed on every batch and summarized in the form of certificate of analysis provided with each order. We are offering these three options :
- FluoSurf neat (pure)
- FluoSurf diluted 2w/w% or 5w/w% in HFE 7500
- FluoSurf diluted 2w/w% or 5w/w% in FC 40
2. Oils
- Fluo-Oil 7500
The fluorinated oil comprises a polyfluorinated surfactant (<0.1%) solubilized in NovecTM HFE-7500 oil. It is especially recommended for solubilization of FluoSurf TM surfactant. Fluo-Oil 7500 has specially been formulated to ensure stability, biocompatibility, and reproducibility of microfluidic experiments.
- Fluo-Oil 40
The fluorinated oil comprises a polyfluorinated surfactant (<0.1%) solubilized in Fluorinert TM FC-40 oil. It is especially recommended for solubilization of FluoSurf TM surfactant. Fluo-Oil 40 has especially been formulated for ensuring stability, biocompatibility, and reproducibility of microfluidic experiments.
- Fluo-Oil 135
Fluo-Oil 135 is a fluorinated oil proposed by Emulseo as an alternative to NovecTM 7500. Fluo-Oil 135 chemical and physico-chemical properties are similar to those of Novec TM 7500 and can be used as an alternative.
3. Surface treatments
The surface treatment products are easy to use and to handle (septum-sealed vials).
- Fluo-ST1 (7mL and multiples of 7mL)
The surface treatment Fluo-ST1 is composed of fluoroalkylsilanes that are chemically reactive to plasma etched glass and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) surfaces. After treatment, a uniform fluorophilic layer is covalently attached to surfaces of the microfluidic devices and especially allows a better performance and stability of aqueous droplets formed in fluorinated oils.
- Fluo-ST2 (8mL and multiples of 8mL)
The surface treatment Fluo-ST2 is a clear, low viscosity, low surface tension solution of a fluorosilane polymer carried in a hydrofluoroether solvent. The coating covalently bonds to a variety of surfaces (glass, PDMS, etc…) and dries in a thin film with excellent hydrophobic properties. It allows a better performance and stability of aqueous droplets formed in fluorinated oils.
4. Specialty chemicals
- Fluo-Break
The emulsion breaker is a clear fluorinated chemical solution that has been formulated to break emulsion droplets. Fluo-Break allows an easy recovery of the droplet phase and can be used with Emulseo’s surfactants and oils.
