Pump Selection Table and Guide

Aurora Pro Scientific offers full product lines of peristaltic pumps, syringe pumps, gear pumps, micro piston pumps, industrial syringe pumps, diaphragm pumps, centrifugal pumps and piezoelectric micropumps/blowers etc.   This article primarily provides an overview of their working principles, pump configuration, performance and selection consideration for our users.

Peristaltic Pumps - The Working Principle and Configuration

Peristaltic Pump - Working Principle

A.  Pump Drive Selection

The peristaltic pump drive allows the users to select the appropriate drive unit for their specific applications, such as the resolution of control (0.1RPM or 1 RPM), channels (torque) and dispensed volume control or flow rate control etc.

B. Pump Head Selection

Selection of the pump heads replies on the compatibility with the selected peristaltic pump drive, such as the number of channels, min. and max. flow rates, flow pulsation allowed etc.

C. Pump Tubing Selection

The pump tubing isolates the fluid from the rest of the pump and environment and makes it ideal for handling aggressive, corrosive media and those shear-sensitive fluids (for example, particle-laden fluids etc.).  The details of the tubing selection guide can be found in this article.

Case Study: Optimizing Fermentation with Precise Fluid Management

A biopharmaceutical company faced challenges in their fermentation processes, primarily focusing on maintaining precise control over fluid handling, ensuring consistency, and enhancing efficiency to boost harvest yield while minimizing waste. Precise delivery of five critical fluids—growth media, acids, bases, and anti-foam agents—was essential to prevent dosing errors that could disrupt the fermentation process and affect product quality.

Transmission Measurements Part I: NIR OR VIS-NIR TRANSMISSION SPECTROSCOPY

Transmission spectroscopy is a widespread analysis technique that consists in measuring the absorption produced by a given sample when a beam of infrared light goes through them. Transmission spectroscopy applies mostly to liquids and gases, yet pressed powders or thin-films might also be characterized using this methodology. Besides spectroscopic measurements, transmission measurements are also useful to evaluate the properties of optical components, such as windows and filters. Arcoptix offers many solutions to perform transmission spectroscopy that rely either on our FT NIR or MIR FTIR instruments.
