Art Photonics GmbH, founded in Berlin in September 1998, is one of the worldwide leaders in development and production of specialty fiber products for a broad spectrum from 300 nm to 16µm. Unique technologies of Polycrystalline Mid InfraRed (PIR-) fibers and Metal coated Silica fibers are widely used for assembly of various spectroscopy probes for medical diagnostics and industrial process control.
- Bio-medicine & biotechnology
Mid-infrared fiber probes and FTIR-spectroscopy can be used in cancer diagnosis to differentiate normal and diseased tissues in organs, and detect early stages of malignancy, monitor the effect of anticancer therapy- chemotherapy. This technology can rapidly and non-invasively detect changes in the biochemical composition of cells and tissues at the molecular level.
In chemical reaction monitoring, Mid Infrared (MIR) spectroscopy has advantages over near infrared (NIR) analysis as it is able to look more easily at functional groups for liquid processes and provide simultaneous monitoring of many chemical species. Use of the optical fibers offers more reliable way for analysis of chemical and/or biological processes than through a clean window observation.
Spectroscopic methods including mid infrared absorption, Raman, NIR reflection and fluorescence are attractive alternatives to provide accurate information about quality and safety of food during industrial preparation process. Fiber optics solutions provide real time monitoring and analysis, particularly important when working in hazard environment or in sterile conditions.
We established partnership with Art Photonics on potential collaboration of R&D of spectroscopy in the biotechnology applications. Also, we are distributing the full product line of their FlexiSpec® products includes fiber optic probes, bundles and fiber couplers designed for inline process spectroscopy of a broad spectral range from 200 nm to 16 µm.
