The handheld corona discharge surface treater generates corona, i.e. high electric field, around an electrode when a very high frequency in Mega Hertz is applied. The corona is able to generate reactive groups on the surface of plastic or glass. Therefore, two treated surfaces can be covalently and permanently bonded. In microfluidic chip fabrication, this device is widely used for surface treatment due to its low-effectiveness and easy of use.

Applications

The primary application is surface corona treating to increase surface energy of the material.
